Barrow & District Disability Association

Barrow and District Disability Association (registered Charity No. 513162) is a small, user-led organisation, where disabled and non-disabled people work together to promote the equality and full participation of disabled people in the community and society as a whole. We do this by providing expert advice, information and support to enable people with disabilities, their families, carers and professionals the knowledge to make informed choices.

Among the services we offer are: -

·         Disability Advice & Benefits Service

We can provide help with form filling for disability benefits and is available for all ages by appointment. Benefit checks and home visits are also available by appointment. We provide up-to-date information on a variety of topics, from Blue Badge applications to accessible holidays and can signpost to specialist services if required. We also stock Radar Keys

·         Education and Leisure Courses

We offer a variety of courses in our centre including I.T., Art, Dressmaking, Paper Crafts & Sign Language. We deliberately keep our classes small to ensure one-to-one support for those students who need a bit more support.

·         Room Hire

We can offer flexible areas suitable for meetings or training and our centre is fully accessible with plenty of parking.

·         Wheelchair Hire

We hire our manual wheelchairs for short-term use in return for a small refundable deposit.

·         Willow Tree Café

We have our own in-house café, which not only serves top quality healthy food but also acts as a hub for disabled people of the community.
