Young People First – Access all Areas is recruiting young people with learning disabilities aged between 10 and 18 across Cumbria. They plan to support groups to recognise services that they find difficult to access and train them to conduct “accessibility audits” The groups will visit the services and work together with the staff to create solutions to make sure that the service is accessible for all.
Being a “young inspector” will help young people to:
- Engage in their community
- Expand their knowledge of local services
- Meet new people
- Develop independence and individuality
- Build confidence and self esteem
