Deaf and Hearing Impaired - Information for Children and Young People

The National Deaf Children's Society is a national charity. Part of their website is dedicated to providing information for deaf children and young people aged 8-18. This is known as the buzz website- see link below. This provides information on a range of topics such as deafness and deaf identity, health and well being, money matters and University.

The British Cochlear Implant Group (BCIG) also has part of their website designed for teenagers. See link below.

Locally you may wish to get involved with "The Balloon Project". This is a project that provides support for families with a deaf child, through activities and social events. This is a partnership between Deaf Vision and Carlisle and Eden Deaf Children's Society, which aims to support families and focus on developing networking opportunities for children and siblings to meet up and share activities. It is a great way to meet friends, as well as having the chance to find out about services and support. See link below.
