Autism - Training

The ASC Team provide two levels of county wide autism awareness training. The course typically runs from 9.30 to 3.30pm and is made available to Head Teachers, SENCOs, Learning Support Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Mentors, Midday Supervisors, Governors as well as SENCo cluster groups.

Level 1 training, which focuses upon raising awareness and improving understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions and related issues must be completed prior to undertaking the Level 2 training which focuses upon the interpretation and management of behaviours of concern.

A certificate of attendance is provided to each delegate.

Whole school training or training for core groups of staff can be offered on an individual needs basis arranged through the Autism Teaching Support Team member allocated to your school or by contacting Caroline Pollard. Examples of sessions include Autism Understanding, Exploring the Behaviours of Children with Autism, Midday Supervisor training, Developing Workstations and Visual Supports.
