We are introducing a new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Short Breaks Activity service from 1st February 2022.

As part of this new service we have designed an online registration process.

This process will enable you to register your child each year so that, if they are eligible, they can then access the activities.

The current registration window has closed and will reopen October 2022

You can find more information about how to use the registration process by downloading the:

How can I access Specialist Short Breaks services?

If your child has a disability you can request a Child and Family Assessment which will be undertaken by a Social Worker in the Children with Disabilities Team

To request an assessment you can call Cumbria County Council’s Safeguarding Hub on: 0333 2401727 and ask for a Child and Family Assessment by the Children with Disabilities Team.

To ensure that the Council can provide these specialist support services, to children, young people and their families, we will use the eligibility criteria to assess your child’s needs.  This is done by using a Resource Allocation Tool to determine the level of support needed and to ensure a consistent approach across the county.

The support offered via this process will be drawn up into a support / care plan which will be reviewed on a regular basis dependant on your child’s level of need.
