Our friendly team will give you a listening ear and provide a real solution to your debts. Since we started helping people out of debt in 1996, we’ve helped thousands in situations like yours through our professional service offered by 285 CAP Debt Centres.
What will happen when I contact CAP?
When you call our free number, you’ll speak to someone from our New Enquiries team. They’ll arrange an initial appointment with a CAP Debt Coach from your local area. If you can gather any paperwork to do with your debts and have these ready, this will make the process a lot quicker. They’ll happily sort through it all, and send it off to our head office, where they’ll work out a budget and the best route out of debt for you, to see you through to financial freedom and beyond.
Please note: you can still access our full CAP Debt Help service as usual. We have just tweaked our appointments to follow Government guidelines.
This means some centres are now starting to see clients face to face again, while others continue to provide phone appointments.
Don't worry - we're still up and running and ready to start your debt free journey with you, so give us a call for free today on 0800 328 0006.

CAP specialises in working alongside different agencies both locally and nationally to support the most vulnerable and those on low incomes. Eight in ten CAP clients (81%) receive some form of benefit income and just over a third (35%) have previously considered or attempted suicide as a way out of debt.
An in-depth and personal face-to-face service to help people deal with their debts
Whilst COVID19 restrictions are in place our service is primarily over the telephone, although we do offer face-to-face appointments at our office at Penrith Methodist Church on Wordsworth St and can meet using Google Meet if clients have the technological means.
CAP’s debt help service is specifically tailored to help financially and socially disadvantaged people. Geared to accommodate those with complex needs, the combination of one-to-one appointments, a befriending service and in-depth counselling empowers individuals to break free from credit dependency and work their way out of debt. 91% of people who used CAP’s debt help service described it as ‘life-transforming’ or ‘a great help’.
The service includes budgeting, specialist advice, creditor negotiation, a full insolvency service and Debt Management Plans. Clients using our Debt management plan make one monthly payment into their plan to cover their debt repayments, which CAP then distributes to their creditors. This support is ongoing until the client is debt free.
If needed clients will be provided with access to emergency aid whilst we work with them towards a sustainable situation
