- How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?
Warwick Bridge has extensive SEN facilities for pupils who need to access them. We also look to ensure that all abilities of pupils are challenged so that children can reach their potential.
- How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?
Our Early Years setting has a Reception and Nursery mixed class. We were moderated in 2017-18 with excellent judgments made by the moderator. The OFSTED inspection in November 2019 gave an overall judgement of GOOD in all areas of the school. This included the SEND provision and inspectors were impressed by WBS's commitment to SEND pupils. All of our EY pupils are monitored by the experiences staff and we use individual pupil record files to keep track of their progress.
- How will the curriculum be matched to my child's/young person's needs?

- How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?
Warwick Bridge School provides all parents and carers a detailed report of how your child is progressing three times a year. This is supported by three Consultation Evenings and adults have the opportunity to contact teachers by e-mail. All parents and carers can make separate appointments to see their child's teacher at any time of the school year. The school also offers regular Home/School meetings in order to pass on information about a range of activities and curriculum resources the school has. Each pupil from Years 1-6 will have a Pupil Planner which can be used to write down any homework activities. The Planner can also be used as a means for parents/carers to communicate with school by writing short notes.
- What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall well being?
The pastoral care for all pupils is full and all-encompassing. We have regular visits from health professionals for all age groups and SEN pupils will be monitored through individual Pupil Education Plans. The school SENCO will monitor these plans on a half termly basis. We also ensure that we follow our Intimate Care Policy when needed along with Administering Medicines at School. The Head Teacher seeks to encourage good attendance by giving rewards for 100% attendance and letters of concern for those below 90%. The school's Behaviour Policy is a positive document and seeks to ensure that there are rewards for expected behaviour. Children have opportunities to express their viewpoints in questionnaires and PSHE lessons as well as class assemblies.
- What specialist services and expertise are avaliable at or accessed by the setting/school/college?
Staff are all qualified to teach and deliver lessons in all areas. The school has been open after hours to uniformed organisations, Slimming World and local groups such as History Society, Good Companions and the Corn Mill.
- What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had? Are any being trained currently?
Staff take relevant courses in Safeguarding, First Aid, Prevent Duty and areas of the curriculum. Staff also have experience of Team Teach techniques.
- How will my child/young person be included in activities outside this classroom including school trips?
All pupils have the opportunity to take part in a variety of lunchtime and after school activities. The school offers clubs in Chess and Games, Art, Running, Multisports, Dance and Drama. Parents are welcome to help out on trips and are actively encouraged to come in to school and listen to readers.
- How accessible is the setting/school/college enviroment?
The school has full wheelchair access and there are disables toilet and changing facilities. We have worked with pupils whose first language is not English and work with the local authority Educational Psychologist when look at SEN needs in school
- How will the setting/school/college prepare and support my child/young person to join the setting/school/college or the next stage of education and life?
We have a number of transition activities from EY to KS1 and KS1 to KS2. The Year 6 pupils also take part in a number of transition activities with all high schools in the area. We have visits from heads and Year leaders from these school at regular times of the year. Our year 5 pupils are also prepared for the Y7 transition by visiting local high schools in good time before they move on.
- How are the setting's/school's/college's resources allocated and matched to children's/young people's special educational needs?
All the school's resources are matched to the needs of SEND pupils. Experienced staff are able to identify the needs of individuals and this forms the basis of the child's IPP. WBS looks in great detail at the needs of all SEND pupils and allocates staff and resources accordingly.
- How is the decision made about what type and how much support my child/young person will receive?
Decisions are made by teachers in consultations with parents/carers and SENCO staff. We will also involve the Local Authority Educational Psychologist and other appropriate professionals as necessary. Parents and Carers are involved in every stage of the process. We will keep records to monitor the impact of these actions.
- How are parents involved in the setting/school/college? How can I be involved?
Parents have a big say in how their child is taught in school. We hold regular meetings with the parents/carers of SEN pupils and provide any extra information as necessary. The school will also seek advice as necessary
