People First - Advocacy/Education/Counselling/Activities

People First is an independent customer-led organisation that has worked in the North of England for over 30 years. We have a deep understanding of the region, our communities and the unique challenges. We are the largest provider of Advocacy in Cumbria, supporting thousands of people every year to have their voices heard and helping them to live their best lives.

We are a passionate organisation which dedicates itself to representing people’s views, we are dynamic and courageous and not afraid to stand up and be counted.

People First offers a range of services and facilities. These include: Advocacy, Research and Education, Representation, Counselling and Youth Services

Youth Services: We offer youth activities to young people aged 10-18 years old who have a learning difficulty and/or autism. Our activities are based in the North and West of Cumbria. We are running two projects at the moment; Next Steps and Talk-Active.

Next Steps supports and prepares young people to transition from the pandemic back into everyday life, develop tech savvy skills and improve inclusion in their local community.

Talk Active supports young people to develop key skills and knowledge around 6 areas of life; a healthy life, safe life, expressive life, future life, skills for life and relationships. It supports young people to develop self-advocacy skills, experience success and recognise and use their strengths.

No referral is needed to get involved with our activities, just get in touch through email or phone to get started.

Both projects are running remote activities and workshops and can offer group and one to one support to young people and their families.
