Station View Extra Care Scheme

Station View opened in 2010 and is the first Extra Care scheme in Barrow-in-Furness. It caters for people over the age of 55 who require care and support, but who wish to retain their independence in a home of their own.

Station View provides specially designed accommodation for people with a range of care needs to support the independence of older people, providing a safe living environment. It enables residents to make friends and socialise in the communal areas and the dining room; where a mid-day meal is served daily.

In keeping with the friendly and sociable environment of Station View, we encourage our residents to take part in activities and events. Residents often organise their own activities, with support and advice from our staff readily available. Activities range from coffee mornings, karaoke, bingo, quizzes, and crafts. The list is endless. Station View is keen to discuss resident’s hobbies and interests, so that everyone can find something that they enjoy. Resident engagement is a priority.

There are 41 self-contained flats spread over 3 floors, which are all wheelchair accessible and can be reached via a lift. Each flat contains a combined living room/kitchen, large shower room and separate bedroom. There are 33 one bedroom flats and 8 two bedroom flats. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed within the scheme.

If you require assistance with activities of daily living, or currently receive care, you will need to be assessed by a Social Worker to be considered for a property.

Applications can also be made via Cumbria Choice Based Lettings website. Link : http://www.cumbriachoice.org.uk/Data/ASPPages/1/30.aspx
