People First Centre for Learning: Hospitality Academy
Our hospitality internship has been designed to be a real alternative to traditional day services. It offers people the chance to work in our conference centre, deveop work skills and move towards paid employment.
Internships offer real experience in a supportive, yet demanding environment which supports interns not only to develop work skills, but also offers a real experience of being part of a team where everyone’s contributions count.
Interns will learn a wide range of trades by rotating through the following departments:
• Building Management
• Grounds Maintenance
• Event Management
The plan includes a selection process which includes an initial personal assessment. Following the initial induction and ‘settling in’ phase, each intern will be assigned a suitable route through the opportunity.
Training is on the job and largely practical, but where appropriate will be supported with classroom based interactive workshops. Our skilled and experienced tutors and job coaches will help people to develop many new skills.
