Grange CE School Nursery Class

Grange Church of England School is at the heart of our local community. Our Christian vision is rooted and grounded in values of love, hope and trust. We are an inclusive school and our belief is that everyone is unique, valued, loved and matters to God.
Our aim is to develop happy pupils with enquiring minds, respect for themselves, others and the world in which we live. All members of our school community are nurtured and encouraged to develop resilience and skills in order to flourish and enjoy 'life in all its fullness'. (John 10:10)
The school is situated on the hill above the town and has a large sports field, plus two playgrounds and a grassed play area with large equipment. In addition there is a wild area and a garden where the children can grow their own plants. The school has a purpose built nursery class with a covered resourced teaching area for the nursery and reception classes.
Most of our children have their first experience of school in our Early Years Department. Our caring, experienced staff provide a warm, welcoming and exciting learning environment for our youngest pupils in the Nursery. We welcome children from three years of age, normally admitting them in September, January or after Easter dependant on date of birth. Funded sessions are offered five mornings per week, Monday to Friday from 8.55am – 11.55 am.
This forms part of our Foundation Stage provision. Situated adjoining the Reception classroom, and being able to share the space and facilities of the main school our Nursery children benefit from access to our extensive school grounds including our produce gardens and wild area.
Our Nursery is well resourced and children learn through a mixture of play activities, both self – initiated and structured, circle and carpet times, social snack time as well as adult led and small group activities. In our Nursery, children experience a rich and stimulating curriculum, and most importantly develop the ability to work and play together with mutual respect and consideration.
The development of imagination, curiosity through problem solving, physical skills and early numeracy and literacy skills all form part of each day for your child. We aim to achieve a seamless transition from Nursery into our Reception class and our Nursery and Reception teachers work together with our headteacher to ensure our children are prepared and confident to continue their journey throughout school.
