Kirkoswald CofE Primary School

We are a 4 – 11 school, which serves the villages of Kirkoswald, Renwick and the surrounding rural area. We are very much part of the community and interact in many aspects of community life. We use other buildings in the village – The Parish Church, The Village Hall and the Methodist Chapel. In addition, we use the village playing field for sports. We are keen to educate the “whole child” through independent learning in a challenging but supportive educational environment where the focus is topic based, nurturing high standards in all areas.

Over the last three years the school has undergone a major refurbishment project which has resulted in a brand new library/ICT suite with new computers and new library software for children to log in and out their own library books. Classrooms have also been refurbished and have recently had new desks and chairs. During the summer holidays of 2010 the Infant area of the school underwent a transformation from being three small spaces connected by doors and dividers into a large classroom base that can provide a rich learning environment for the infant children.

In the summer holidays of 2011 the final area of school was refurbished and where the bedrooms used to be within the original school house. We now have a dining room/food technology area and have created a designated space for Breakfast Club and After School Club. . Our most recent development during the summer of 2012 has been to improve the bank area of the school’s playground, developing it into two level play areas with a slide between both levels and providing an all-weather surface that can be used all year round.
