What is the St Mary’s Admission Process and Who Can I Contact for Further Information? The majority of children and young people at St Mary’s have a statement and are funded by local education authorities. There are a number who are privately funded, including some from overseas who are supported by agreed local guardians. St Mary’s also has experience in working with children in care. St Mary’s School and Sixth Form College accepts referrals from Local Education Authorities, parents/ carers and professionals and operates an admission and assessment process. If the assessment is for a residential place the child will be required to stay 3 nights at St Mary’s. If a day place is required the assessment will take place over 3 days. During this time the child will be assessed by the trans-disciplinary team. At the end of the assessment a decision will be made as to whether a place can be offered and what kind of support or input will be needed. Should you have any questions regards the admission process, would like to find out more or require any further information regards St Mary’s School and Sixth Form College please do not hesitate to contact the St Mary’s Admissions and Assessment Co-ordinator for an informal discussion or to organise a visit. An information pack is also available upon request.
Local Offer
- Description
The children’s needs are met through highly individualised, integrated education, therapy and care programmes that address their needs. These extend beyond the classroom into the residential and community settings. The residential settings provide a waking day curriculum to develop the children’s language, communication, social, motor; independence and self- help skills. Staff work together to ensure that all of the children’s needs are met through a holistic approach thus enabling the generalisation of skills across all settings.
