University of Cumbria

Who are the University of Cumbria?

We are the University of Cumbria, based in the north-west of England in some of the country's top locations, including two World Heritage Sites. In fact, we're the UK's only university to be set in a National Park. Our range of campus-based sites provides a unique place to learn - one filled with opportunities for fun and for employment that you won't find anywhere else. Our class sizes are small meaning that our academics get to know our students individually and can offer unparalleled support.

We have five specialist departmental areas spread across four campuses that offer a range of flexible multidisciplinary courses.

With two campuses in Carlisle on the edge of the Scottish border, one in the heart of the iconic Lake District, Ambleside and a campus in the historic student city of Lancaster.

Students are taught by experts who are not only academics but have a wealth of experience in the world of work and are committed to helping students achieve their ambitions.

With close links to local law firms, police forces and youth centres, NHS trusts, schools and colleges and practising artists (plus many more) the knowledge students gain on their course is geared towards getting them a job as soon as they graduate!

That's why 97% of our graduates enter employment within 6 months of graduating.

TOP 10 IN THE WORLD in the 'Quality Education' category in The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2020.

Why Consider the UoC?

Due to our small cohort sizes, this allows our academics and wider student support services to really get to know you as an individual to make the best of your time at university - academically, sociably, and professionally developing!

We're a university where students are put at the heart of everything we do! We have invested millions of pounds in our teaching areas including a £3.5 million state-of-the-are teaching STEM Lab block at our Fusehill Street campus. Make sure to check out our campus videos to find out more!

We're a keen believer in experiential learning meaning that everything you learn can and will be put into practice through placements and working on campus in our range of areas such as; simulation rooms, clinical skills labs, STEM labs, performance areas, physio and occupational therapy suites, radiography facilities and so much more...

100% of student nurses who wanted a job after graduation have done so successfully through the University of Cumbria. Whilst 97% of our graduates in total from all areas enter employment within 6 months of graduating.
