We are proud to offer opportunity and achievement for all in an exciting and productive learning environment. We promote hard work, courtesy, good behaviour and service to others. Students are encouraged to respect each other and everyone in the school and the wider community.
Our specialism in Engineering is important to us and is a strength of our school. As a Specialist Engineering College we are able to pilot new initiatives and lead the way in Engineering for the benefit of our students and the community.
We regard every one of our students as individuals, each with equal rights but differing strengths and interests. We view our role as a school as being to discover and then develop these unique characteristics. The academic progress of our students is very important but we also focus every day on helping young people develop into confident, sensitive and reflective adults who are ready by the end of Year 11 to take the next step in their education, training or employment. Most importantly, we want all our students to enjoy school, feel safe and achieve their full potential.
Walney is a rapidly improving school as described by students, parents and Ofsted. We invite you to come and see this for yourself, either through our open Week programme of tours or by individual arrangement. Such visits allow you to experience our pace of change and observe first-hand the pride we all have in our school and the range of opportunities available to our students.

Walney School believes that all students have a right to an inclusive education, with provision made, as far as possible, within the classroom, alongside their peers. However we recognise that at times, students will benefit from more focused work on and support for their individual needs. The purpose of all provision, from classroom to withdrawal, is to create the best possible conditions to support each individual in making the best possible progress with their learning.
