Hawkshead Esthwaite Primary School

The school aims to provide a friendly, caring, supportive environment with high quality teaching and learning which will enable every child to reach their potential. The views and opinions of all those involved in the school are valued and contribute towards change and development over time. Pupils are offered a broad and rich curriculum using a wide range of learning approaches. ICT is embedded and used in all subjects as appropriate, to enable pupils to become confident and competent in new technologies.
A healthy respect for the environment is fostered allowing pupils to develop sound understanding of important environmental issues now and into the future. The importance of a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and good diet is promoted and encouraged.
The school is at the heart of the community and as such, seeks to be involved and informed about life in the village and encourages the village to become involved with the school.
The school aims to instil values of respect, honesty, empathy and understanding in the pupils as they relate to others and the environment in which they live. Opportunities to debate and discuss moral, social, religious and ethical issues will enable them to develop a reasoned set of values, attitudes and beliefs.

- Description
All children are entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum within the National Curriculum. Progress of all pupils at Hawkshead School is regularly monitored and class teachers will identify if a pupil in their class requires additional support with an area of their learning or is having more difficulty than their peers with an aspect of learning or behaviour. From this point and in consultation with parents, appropriate support will be offered to the child to ensure that they can access the curriculum and make good progress as they move through school.
