Ennerdale and Kinniside CofE Primary School
First and foremost we believe that our school is made up of its children, their parents/carers, the teachers and the local community. We seek to provide an atmosphere that encourages children to learn and to grow, developing new ideas, skills and experiences within a cultural, social and Christian framework, which helps equip them for life. The parents, governors and local community play an important part in this, bringing a wider set of values and cultures, which help develop young minds.
As a Voluntary Controlled School, we aim to provide a Christian education for our children, whilst also developing within them an appreciation of the beliefs of others in the local community and in the wider world. Children experience in the school the values and attitudes which are based on Christian commitment and will take part in celebrating the festivals of the Christian year. We aim for an open, reflective approach to Christianity and other world faiths at the appropriate age and try to ensure that each child develops both knowledge and understanding throughout his or her time at the School, by following the Agreed Cumbrian Syllabus.

At Ennerdale and Kinniside C of E School we believe that every child has needs which are particular to him or herself, that need to be recognised and met by the teaching staff and others in the school. There are, however, some children who need focused help and teaching, for example those with dyslexia or other 'Special Needs' as defined in the 2014 Code of Practice. Our process for identifying any such needs is based on both the child's observed behaviour and full parental involvement.
It is aimed at effective identification of the best way of meeting those needs for the child as an individual. Once those needs and the appropriate ways of meeting them are agreed, there are a number of resources that the school can call upon for help through Cumbria's SEN team. Their particular concern is to ensure that the child is getting the best out of his or her time at school and that family support is directed towards helping achieve this aim. They can advise both teachers and parents about how best to provide the overall help that the child requires. We are always willing to discuss any child's needs with parents or guardians.
