Ireleth St Peter's CofE Primary School

Ireleth St Peter’s C of E Primary School is small, rural school located in the village of Ireleth, Askam in Furness, first founded in 1608. Our school has 3 mixed age classes, the composition of which is typically Nursery and EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 although this structure can slightly vary year on year, depending on our assessment of the needs of each particular year group.
The building itself is split across two levels. Two classrooms (accessed through flights of stairs), the school hall, pupil/ adult toilets (with disabled access) and the school office are located on the ground floor. The Key Stage 2 classroom is located on the first floor, which is accessible via stairs or stair lift. We have various routes into school, including wheelchair friendly access through the hall and into the playground.
We have extensive school grounds, offering wonderful views over the Duddon Estuary. These are comprised of an EYFS outdoor play area, school playground, allotment, field, sports field and outdoor classroom and all can be accessed via ramp or steps.
We aim to provide a flexible school environment and a child centred approach is at the heart of our christian ethos, we treat children as individuals and value their uniqueness, assessing needs on an individual basis and making further reasonable adaptations to our environment if needed.

- Description
The staff and governors of Ireleth St Peter’s Primary School will work to ensure that we meet the needs of all pupils with SEND as outlined in the 2014 SEND code of practice to support them to reach their full potential, are fully included within the school community and are able to make successful transfers between educational establishments.
We are committed to nurturing the aspirations of all; using a positive, person centred approach to support the development of every member of our school community, addressing their needs and reviewing our own practice in the most appropriate way to allow this to be achieved.
We regularly welcome children to our school with a range of special educational needs and/or disabilities and find that our Christian ethos and small class sizes ensures all pupils in our school thrive. Our staff are experienced in supporting a wide range of SEND and we use a range of high quality teaching and targeted, small group interventions based on our pupil’s needs to support all children to make progress.
