Dignity in Dementia

Dignity in Dementia is an award winning not-for-profit social enterprise that supports families affected by dementia in order to help make their lives as normal and positive as possible.

People tell us that when a family member gets a dementia diagnosis they are generally left to get on with it.  We believe that learning a little more about dementia and our easy to use approaches  will help both the person with dementia and their carer to have a better quality of life together. Therefore we run free to attend courses at different locations across the South Lakes that help you:

-  learn techniques that support the people that you care for so that they feel more content and at ease

- learn ways to communicate and connect more effectively

- reduce behaviours that you may find challenging.

We can also deliver 3 hour sessions at a family home for up to 6 family members. Unfortunately we do need to charge for this service but personalise the session so it specifically relates to your relative with dementia.

We also run Dementia Embracing Community Singing Groups in Ambleside, Sedbergh and Silverdale.  We also run Dementia Embracing Community Come Dancing Sessions in Milnthorpe. Pupils from Milnthorpe Primary School also join in and deliver refreshments and chat.
