Valley Primary School and Nursery
Valley Primary School is a community school for children from 3-11 years. It opened as a Primary School in September 2004. There is an established group of teachers and support staff. The SENCo for Early Years and Key Stage One is our Early Years Leader - Miss Hughes and the SENCo for Key Stage Two is Miss Harding. All teachers take the lead in some area of the curriculum and/or other whole school responsibility. The school has a modern ICT suite, a library and a large hall. There are 11 classrooms, a large open-plan reception unit, and a nursery.
The school is set in extensive grounds, which has 2 large playgrounds, and a football pitch. There are 281 girls and boys on roll, plus 35 nursery children attending five mornings or afternoons per week. We have supported co-operative arrangements with local schools and we have good links with many of these, including Whitehaven School, the local 11-18 comprehensive.
At the beginning of every school year we arrange a variety of extra-curricular clubs. We offer a wide selection which we tailor to fit in with the preferences or needs of our children and which could include activities such as football, dance, first aid, quiz and games.
