Gosforth C of E Primary School
Gosforth Church of England school is on the edge of the Lake District National Park. It is a school which combines traditional values and a Christian ethos with modern ambitions. The environment is nurturing and caring, and the expectations are high. We want to see our children happy, confident and the best that they can be.
All children are encouraged to work with initiative and enthusiasm and regular visits from external agencies enrich curricular activity. We work hard to provide the individual learning and friendly atmosphere which spells success.
A Voluntary Controlled Church of England School, we welcome children of all denominations and faiths from the age of 4 to 11, from Gosforth itself, from the surrounding catchment area of Saltcoats, Holmrook, Drigg, Stubble Green and the Wasdale Valley and many other villages as far afield as St Bees and Frizington.

SEND or Special Educational Needs is when pupils may need additional or different provision to help them achieve their full potential.
Class teachers will quickly identify if your child is having difficulties as progress is tracked. Our SENCO will discuss with class teachers what support may be appropriate. This may be extra small group work, 1:1 support or using specialist equipment and materials. It may be appropriate to put an IEP (Individual Educational Plan) in place. This document states what support will be in place matched to targets to ensure your child’s learning progresses. The IEP will be reviewed with you and we may ask for permission to seek advice from other professionals from outside agencies. If your child has complex needs the Local Authority may undertake a full assessment and may draw up an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) to ensure your child receives the additional support they need. The school can be contacted at any time to discuss concerns or to raise questions.
