Brough Community Primary School

THE SCHOOL
Brough School is a co-educational primary school for four to eleven year olds. The school was established in 1875, and serves a large area from Stainmore to Musgrave.
The school has four main classrooms, library and a large hall, plus additional teaching areas where groups or individual pupils can work. All classrooms have computers and internet access. They are also equipped with interactive whiteboards to enable staff to use the latest technology when teaching. In addition to the whiteboards we have a wireless network supporting a bank of laptops available to all classes.
In the grounds of the school we have an adventure trail, a traversing wall, a quiet area and an outdoor stage with seating for over a hundred pupils presently used as outdoor area for foundation stage.
The school has close links with the local pre-school group which share the school grounds and run transition sessions within the school premises.
The school has been accredited with the Healthy Schools Award and the Active Mark Sports Award and places an emphasis on the welfare and personal development of its pupils as well as promoting an active, healthy life style.

Our Aim
We believe that all children have an equal right to a broad, balanced and appropriate education to enable them to reach their full potential.
To ensure that they achieve the outcomes of which they could be capable, for some children, this means ensuring provision that is ‘additional to and different from’ that provided within the differentiated curriculum. This ‘special needs’ provision focuses on the four areas of need identified in the new Code of Practice (September 2014):
- Communication and interaction
- Cognition and learning
- Social, mental and emotional health
- Sensory/physical
