BREASTFEEDING

Have you heard about the amazing benefits of breastfeeding for you and your baby?

Action for Children provide breastfeeding groups, individual support, resources and information.  We have some great books and DVDs to borrow too!

VOLUNTEERING

Ever wanted to get involved with the Children’s Centres to gain experience or share your skills?  Then why not volunteer?  It’s a great way to get involved with your local Children’s Centre, meet people and learn new skills.

It’s easy to apply, there’s a volunteer induction to help you prepare for becoming a volunteer and with an Action for Children certificate for each session – so good to add to your CV too!  On-going training (including access to staff training) and out-of-pocket expenses are provided, plus supervision and support to ensure your volunteering is going well.

There are varied volunteering roles – something for everyone!  Whatever your goal there’s a role to help you gain relevant experience.  These include: Family Learning, Family Support, Breastfeeding Supporter, Health and Well-being, Play to Learn Team, Administrative Support Team, Trainee Counsellors, Resilience Services.

Volunteering is a great stepping stone to work or training and Action for Children can provide work experience, student placements and apprenticeships too.  We have between 5 and 10 volunteers of all ages in each centre and we have volunteer meetings and events.
