Shap Endowed CofE Primary School
Shap School serves the village of Shap and the surrounding area, including Keld, Hardendale, Rosgill, Bampton, Bampton Grange, Burnbanks, Butterwick and Swindale. Transport to school is provided for children living beyond the statutory distance. Details may be obtained from the Head teacher. The original school building, built in the 1860's, houses the junior pupils and staff room. Behind it there is a hall and kitchen, library, school office and classrooms for the younger pupils. Infant and junior pupils have independent entrances to the school and each unit has its own cloakroom and toilets.
The school has a fully equipped Nursery area used full time by children in and around Shap village. The Nursery is an integral part of the school’s Foundation Stage Unit. We also have a Community Development Centre on our site with a computer suite and recreational facilities.
The school buildings are situated in their own grounds. A large car park next to the school provides safe parking. The school has a good sized playground with an early years outdoor play area and a sports field. Immediately adjacent is the Memorial Park and the swimming pool. The swimming pool is used by all children for several weeks during the summer term. Children are also encouraged to visit the public library.
Shap Endowed CofE Primary is a small primary school for children aged 3 to 11. There are currently 100 pupils on roll and they are are taught in four mixed-age classes.
