Levens CofE School
Levens CE School is a happy, safe, secure place to grow and learn, where we enjoy the learning experiences each new day brings. Our children are supported and nurtured through our distinctively Christian ethos and shared Christian values.
It is our aim to develop a life-long love of learning by preparing our children for their future in a diverse and ever-changing world. We provide wide-ranging opportunities for every child enabling them to be creative; develop their personal skills; become responsible, confident and considerate; taking pride in all that they do.
Levens School is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England Primary School serving the rural village of Levens, and surrounding hamlets of the Lyth valley. We have extended our provision to nursery-aged children from 3 year onward. At the age of 11, our children transfer to one of the local secondary schools in the area. This year we have 82 children on roll.

At Levens CE School we are determined to meet the individual needs of all our pupils. We aim to enable all children to participate fully in school life.
The school manages to meet the needs of children who may be experiencing difficulty with learning, or who have a disability, according to the current requirements as set out in the Code of Practice. (Please also see our SEN Policy and Information Report)
Children experiencing difficulty at any time or in any area of school life are quickly identified and given appropriate input and support. The class teacher is able to draw on the advice and experience of colleagues, particularly the school’s Special Needs coordinator, and external agencies if necessary. Each child with special educational needs has a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP), which is created in consultation with the child and their parents and reviewed regularly. All teachers plan, set and mark work appropriate and relevant to the individual needs of their pupils, taking into account any requirements set out in the PLP.
Our school has an exceptionally strong and experienced staff and a range of resources and intervention strategies to support our children with their individual needs. In addition, some of our specialist staff have further qualifications in screening, supporting reading, maths intervention and Dyslexia. We have also established very strong links with professionals outside school; including educational psychologists, speech and language teachers and occupational therapy.
If you have any queries about the Special Educational Needs provision for your child or about Special Educational Needs generally, please do not hesitate to contact school.
