Some children and young people with autism or a learning disability and high support needs will soon have a key worker. Children and young people who are in a mental health hospital, or who need support to stay out of hospital, will be the first to get a key worker. Lancashire and South Cumbria is one of 13 places in the country where key workers are being tested. These places are called pilot sites.
Key workers will work with children, young people and their families to get support that helps them feel:
- safe and happy
- listened to and involved in the planning of their care and support
- less stressed and worried.
